The WWE has been around for decades and it is very difficult to see any other promotion ever toppling it from the top spot.
And even though the AEW has far more exciting wrestlers and its storylines are way better than those of the WWE, getting to be the big name in wrestling is going to be quite an uphill task.
Below we shall have a look at some of the reasons why the WWE will always be the kingpin in wrestling, at least, for the foreseeable future:
1. WWE is family-friendly
In recent years, the WWE has taken a much more family-friendly approach and this, in turn, has led to it expanding its fan base, and hence an increase in revenue as well.
The AEW is far more violent, with more blood too so it’s not really something that one would comfortably watch with kids so, in this regard, the WWE comes out on top.
2. AEW is still new in the game
The WWE has been around since 1915 compared to the AEW that is a little over two years old now.
The WWE’s Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble, Summerslam, and survivor series pay-per-views have been around for a long time now and continue to be produced to this day.
3. Cash is king!
The WWE is a money-making machine, having TV deals that run into the hundreds of millions of dollars each year so it is difficult to see them going out of business any time soon.
If the AEW wants to seriously compete with the WWE then it will definitely need to pick up more TV deals.
4. Big difference in global audience
The WWE has a huge global audience and there really is no other promotion that comes even remotely close.
For instance, in India alone, the WWE draws around 335 million unique TV viewers annually, and let’s admit, this is pretty impressive.
5. Big-Name Superstars
Over the years, the WWE has churned out some huge names in wrestling that command a huge fan base all over the world.
- The Undertaker
- ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin
- Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson and
- John Cena
These superstars are a few of the names that instantly pop to mind when you think of wrestling and they all feature in the WWE.
And even though the AEW still continues to nurture its talent, they have a long way to go before they can ever wish to compete with some of the superstars that we see week in and week out on the WWE.
